The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP). Course work qualifies students to sit for the exams administered by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). The Northern Virginia Community College EMS Program prepares entry-level paramedics in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains. Job function and salary depend on the credential obtained. There are different levels of training and practice.
